Brand Identity

Beyond One Field is about Pasifika athletes across all sports, not just rugby. It highlights the talent, discipline, and pride shown in every arena, from the rugby pitch to the basketball court, netball court, boxing ring, and beyond. It’s about representing our people wherever they compete.

PROBLEM

There is limited representation and visibility of Pasifika athletes across a wide range of sports. Most media attention focuses heavily on rugby, which overlooks the depth of talent, identity, and achievement of Pasifika athletes in other sporting codes. This creates a narrow narrative that fails to reflect the full sporting presence of Pasifika communities.

PROCESS

Opeta Elika explores Pasifika identity, storytelling, and representation through visual design and creative direction. The process focused on combining cultural influences, typography, and contemporary visuals to create work that reflects heritage, community, and personal expression.

OUTCOME

The mockups placed the posters in realistic campus and community settings, showing how they would appear in real-world environments and strengthening the presentation of the work.

IMPACT

My project helps shift perceptions of sport within Pasifika communities by increasing visibility of athletes beyond rugby. By showcasing a wider range of sporting role models through accessible formats like posters and magazines, it encourages young Pasifika people to see themselves in different sports, broadens aspirations, and strengthens representation across community and school spaces.
